Curriculum

Pedro Osório was born in Porto. He studied Music and Mechanical Engineering simultaneously, but ended up choosing to be a professional musician when he was attending the last year of Engineering. He started with some pop-rock bands, soon moving his activity to orchestration and orchestra conduction.
In records or on stage, as an arranger, orchestra conductor or musical director, he has worked with many of the Portuguese pop music greatest names, such as Paulo de Carvalho, Sérgio Godinho, Fernando Tordo, Carlos do Carmo, Carlos Paredes, Rui Veloso, Rita Guerra, Carlos Mendes, Herman José, Lúcia Moniz, Xutos e Pontapés, etc...
 

Together with Carlos Moniz, he created, in 1974, the GRUPO OUTUBRO.

He was leader of the National Union of Musicians and one of the organizers of the 1st National Congress of Musicians, in October 2003.

As an author or orchestrator, he has won Portuguese TV's Song Festival several times.

He represented Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1975 and 1982, as chief of orchestra, and in 1968 and 1996, as an author. That year, with the song O MEU CORAÇÃO NÃO TEM COR, performed by LÚCIA MONIZ, he accomplished the greatest score ever by a Portuguese contestant in the said event.

Music author for cinema and theatre, he won in 1982 the critics prize with the music he composed for the play BAAL, by Bertholt Brecht.

Musical director and author of several TV series, such as CURTO CIRCUITO, O TEMPO EM QUE VOCÊ NASCEU, NOITES DE GALA, CASINO ROYAL, JOAQUIM LETRIA.

Musical director and producer of shows like SÓ NÓS TRÊS, VIM PARA O FADO E FIQUEI, AS CANÇÕES DO SÉCULO, QUATRO CAMINHOS, NOVAS DESCOBERTAS and POPera.

In 1994, the President of the Republic, Mr. Mário Soares, awarded him the honour of 'Grau de Comendador da Ordem do Infante D. Henrique'.

He has also devoted himself to the creation of symphonic music pieces, some of which have already been publicly performed.

He's the music author of several shows of CASINO ESTORIL and CASINO DA PÓVOA.

He is part of the Portuguese Authors' Society current administration.
